50th Anniversary Class Reunion
September 5-6-7-8 2019
SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR 50th REUNION THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 5th Music at Jazzhaus, Lawrence, KS The Jazzhaus, in beautiful downtown Lawrence, Kansas. The doors open to us at 7:00. An incarnation of the legendary Lonny Fame and the Belltones will play, as well as other musical artists from our class. More on this later, but we have the facility until 9:45 with no cover charge.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6th Golf and Brewbakers in Lenexa St. Andrews Golf Club, 11099 W. 135th St. Overland Park, 913-890-1650. Tee time is 10:00 AM and the $64 fee includes green fees, cart fees, range balls, 2 drink tickets, and one meal.
Brewbakers Bar and Grill, 9482 Renner Blvd., Lenexa 913-322-2739. We’ll kick this off at 6:09 (for thematic effect!) Come as you are … the food, drink, and frivolity is at your own expense. It’s only a few blocks west of 95th and I-435, and also has a large outdoor seating area, with plenty of indoor seating for our expected crowd of 200+.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7th Breakfast, School tour and Milburn Country Club 9:00 AM coffee at Einstein Bros. Bagels at the Village, 6970 Mission Rd. PVK
Beth Fowler, the SME archivist has once again graciously agreed to give a tour of the school at 10:30 AM for any/all that are interested. More on this later.
Milburn Country Club, 7501 W. 69th St. Overland Park, 913-432-0490. Surprisingly, the evening begins at 6:09. When we were scouring the city for an event facility and realized Milburn CC was on 69th St., well I seemed like a fit. In fact 69th St. literally ends at Milburn, you literally can’t miss it.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 8th Brunch at Ya Ya's in Overland Park Brunch at Ya Ya’s Bistro, 7021 W. 135th, Leawood, 913-345-1111. 10:00 AM with plenty of seating for all that attend.
Lodging:
We have arranged a block of 15 rooms at the Overland Park Marriott, 10800 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210, 913-451-8000 (or Marriott Reservations 1-800-228-9290) for the nights of Friday, September 6, 2019, and Saturday, September 7, 2019. The group rate is $129.00/night for “run of the house” rooms plus local taxes (18.10% presently). Please ask for rooms in the “Shawnee Mission East reunion block” when booking. The cut-off date for this special rate is August 16, 2019. We can possibly add more rooms depending on availability.
